The construction of Lake George Village’s first waterfront condominium complex is expected to start in September, on the site where King Neptune’s Pub now stands. New York Almanack reports, according to property owners Sean and Melissa Quirk, the complex, to be known as The Anchor, will consist of five residential units. Ranging in size from 1,200 to 2,500 sq. ft, the units will sell for prices starting at $1.5 million.

Whittling Down New School Nickname In Lake George
Lake George Central School District is another step closer to deciding its new school nickname, in a renaming process spurred on by a state mandate to remove Native American names and imagery from school districts.
On Monday, Lake George Jr./Sr. High School’s student advisory committee gathered and announced the results of a survey dispersed to students, faculty, and community members across Lake George. The results: The “Georgians” are out, at 5.1% of 986 votes. Meanwhile, the “Lakers” came in at 47.4%; and the prospect of an entirely new option alongside it at 47.5%.
Invasive Species Program In Lake George Friday
Next week is New York Invasive Species Awareness Week, and those who are interested in learning more about the invasive species that are in our woods, fields and even lawns can join with staff from Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program in Lake George on Friday, June 9 at 10 am at the Lake George Elementary ball field to learn how to identify plans that don’t belong in our local ecosystem.
Dispute Over Animal Cruelty Case Contract In Warren County
Warren County and the SPCA of Upstate New York are having trouble agreeing on an animal cruelty case contract. WNYT reports Warren County is balking at the SPCA’s asking price of $15,000 a month to provide services in cruelty cases.
The SPCA submitted the only proposal before the window closed on March 25.
Lake George Hoping To Score State DRI Funds
Officials in the Town of Lake George are hosting an open house to gather community input and suggestions for state revitalization funding the town is now actively pursuing. The Post Star reports the town is hoping to secure funds through the NY Forward/Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Locally, the downtown area of Lake George has already witnessed significant positive changes, with private investments and the establishment of new businesses, as well as the restoration of sidewalks along Canada Street.

State Legislature Wants Deep Dive On Bridge Collisions
The state legislature is pushing for a bill to increase safer travels by enforcing a bridge collision study through DOT. According to the Department, there are nearly 200 bridge hits in New York, every year. The reasons for those collisions vary between improperly stored equipment on trucks, violation of vehicles posting signs, plus, distractibility and higher reliance on GPS systems could also be cause for the bridge strikes.
NYS Assembly Backs CDTA, GGFT Merger
The merger between the Greater Glens Falls Transit and the Capital District Transportation Authority is one stop closer to becoming a reality. The New York State Assembly passed a resolution on the merger back on May 31. WTEN reports it means as the GGFT is dissolved into CDTA, employees will have an opportunity to work for the company. Warren County was the sixth county to join CDTA’s transit network.
Teens Arrested In Street Racing Incident On Northway
Two teenagers were arrested for a crash on the Northway on Friday. State Police said the crash happened just after 8 p.m. WTEN reports the two teens were accused of street racing in different vehicles going at least 90 miles per hour. One of the cars involved rear-ended another vehicle not involved in the street racing and caused it to flip several times and hit another vehicle. A 17-year old and a 16-year old were arrested for reckless endangerment and were released to their guardians.
Washington County Initiates Alcohol Compliance Check
Washington County authorities initiated an alcohol compliance check, during which they used a person under 21 to enter stores and try to buy alcohol. Only one store visited failed the test, Cumberland Farms, 1252 NY 29 Greenwich. Nine other stores visited followed proper procedure.
