Man Dies In UTV Accident In Greenwich
An UTV crash took the life of a Greenwich man Sunday morning. WRGB reports around 10:30 a man in his 80s rolled his UTV into a pond, getting stuck in the UTV underwater. He was removed from the water. After lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, he was declared dead on scene.
Strand Summer Slam In Lake George
This weekend, Charles R. Wood Park in Lake George is tuning up with music for a good community cause. WTEN reports The Strand Summer Slam takes over the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons in Lake George on Saturday and Sunday, July 8-9, bringing cover bands and high-energy acts to carry visitors through a hot summer weekend.
No Public Hearing On Glens Falls Site Plans
Glens Falls Planning Board members met on Tuesday but only for the discussion of site plans due to missing the announcement of public hearings for the July meeting agenda items. The Post Star reports Board President Ethan Hall said that due to the city’s Building and Codes Department being “understaffed,” the notices for all items on the agenda were not mailed in time for the meeting.
Man Charged In Deadly Crash Rejects Plea Deal
Jury selection is set to begin on Monday for the trial of a Moreau man accused of driving drunk and striking and killing a tow truck driver on the Northway last September. The Post Star reports 42 year old Justin P. Rodriguez rejected an offer of 15 years to life in exchange for a plea to second-degree murder during a hearing on Thursday in Saratoga County Court.
Rodriguez is a repeat DWI offender with multiple convictions resulting in a permanently revoked license.
Lake George Arts Project Summer Concert Series
The Lake George Arts Project has announced its plans to continue the town’s Summer concert series, offering free concerts every Wednesday night at the Shepard Park Amphitheater. From July 5 to August 30, the Lake George venue will host ten shows, moving forward a tradition that has been a part of the community for over forty years, including artists from New York, New England, Nashville, and other various regions.
Man Arrested In Connection With Car Break-Ins In Glens Falls
Glens Falls Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for a string of car break-ins throughout the city this spring.
The Post Star reports 36 year old Ryan Brown of Ogden Street is under arrest on charges related to multiple larcenies from vehicles throughout the city that took place in April through June of 2023. Brown was charged with numerous felonies and misdemeanors that stemmed from multiple separate incidents.
Money To Rehab, Replace Bridges Coming To Area
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the award of more than $516 million in enhanced assistance for 141 local governments to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts while supporting resiliency and sustainability in every region of the state. This funding, provided through the State’s BRIDGE NY initiative, is aimed at helping local governments across the state harden their existing infrastructure while boosting the resiliency of bridges and culverts in the state. Warren and Washington Counties are receiving about $12 million.
Two Arrested After Attempted Armed Robbery
On July 4, State Police arrested two individuals following an attempted armed robbery. Justin M. Cabral, 36, of Queensbury, and Garrett A. Murray, 25, of Greenwich, were taken into custody. It happened at the Speedway on Aviation Road. Police say, Cabral entered the business, brandished a knife, and demanded money. Before police arrived, he fled in a vehicle driven by Murray. Both were eventually caught.
Woman Dies From Injuries In Lake George Crash
A 94-year-old woman is dead and four others slightly injured after a crash at Route 9N and Exit 21 on I87 in Lake George Monday. A vehicle operated by 67-year-old Oleg Agranovsky of Albany allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp, and was hit by another vehicle. 94 year old Stenya Agranovsky , a passenger in the Volkswagen, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Glens Falls Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
