North Country Ministry has announced the reopening of its Furniture Program and the opening of the Brant Lake Clothing Center with ribbon-cutting celebrations planned for both locations. Sun Community News reports NCM and the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce invited the public to join them Thursday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m., in celebration of the Grand Re-Opening and to tour the new facility for the Furniture Program. The program’s new location is 2 Stewart Farrar Ave. in Warrensburg.

Warrensburg Man Faces DWI Counts
A Warrensburg man was arrested for DWI after crashing his car while drunk. According to WNYT, 49 year old Shane Squires was arrested by the Warren County Sheriffs Office just after 11 p.m. Friday evening. He was found drunk, after he crashed his car on Golf Course Road in Warrensburg. There were no other cars involved in the crash.
Warren County Supervisors Shoot Down Pay Hike For Sheriff
The Warren County Board of Supervisors rejected a request made by Sheriff Jim LaFarr to raise his annual salary by $18,875 to $139,373 — while approving a resolution that increased his undersheriff’s pay from $116,900 to $135,775. Sun Community News reports the latter resolution, for which the sheriff advocated, also boosted salaries for two other non-union employees in his department.
DEC Announces State Community Forest Conservation Grant Program
DEC has announced $1 million in grant funding is now available through the second round of the State’s Community Forest Conservation Grant Program. Municipalities can use this funding to purchase land or conservation easements to create new or expand existing community forests and protect land from development.
Assemblyman Simpson Decries Free Health Care For Sex Workers Program
The New York State Department of Health is launching a publicly funded two-year pilot program to provide free health care to sex workers. Under the new Sex Worker Health Pilot Program, the $1 million two-year program will provide sex workers in New York City and Western New York with primary health care, therapy and dental care. Assemblyman Matt Simpson said it is hypocritical that we are giving millions in free health care to sex workers instead of helping law-abiding families shoulder the burden of basic health care costs.
Aquatic Invasive Species Monitoring Set For Lake George
Lake George’s annual aquatic invasive species monitoring weekend is set for August 18-20.
It is a call to action for anyone around the lake with a motorboat, canoe, or kayak to get out on the water. WNYT reports the goal is to survey, gathering data on what invasive species are populating points around the lake, and where they are.
Two Charged With Trying To Steal Money From Patient In Washington County
Two home health care workers are facing charges – after thousands of dollars were stolen from a patient in Washington County. WNYT reports Kimberly Ouderkerk is charged with grand larceny, and Aireal Bailey is charged with attempted grand larceny, after allegedly stealing more than $50,000 from a patient in Kingsbury. Police say Bailey allegedly tried to steal more than $3,000 from the victim.
Hundreds Of Homes Left Without Power After Queensbury Crash
At least 700 homes were without power on Monday following a crash on Queensbury Road in the town of Queensbury. The outage was caused by a rollover crash across from the entrance to the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. WTEN reports
National Grid was onsite as of around 2 p.m., working to repair the outage. The National Grid outage map, at one point, showed over 1,600 affected customers stretching north from the airport, reaching past Queensbury and into parts of northwest Washington County, near the east side of Lake George.
Warren County Seeks Solid Waste/ Recycling Compliance Coordinator
