South Street in Glens Falls is about to have a big Friday. On one side of the once-bustling street, a Downtown Revitalization Initiative project years in the works will finally break ground. Also, The Golden Monkey Lounge is set to hold a soft opening at 5 p.m. this Friday at 58 South St. – most recently home to Glens Falls Bagels, and previously to an Irish pub that closed its doors about a decade ago.

Warren County Career Center’s schedule of free online career skills workshops includes a class Thursday focusing on dos and don’ts of completing job applications. There are two next week as well.

South Glens Falls Man Admits To Knifepoint Pharmacy Robbery
A South Glens Falls man has admitted to robbing a pharmacy at knifepoint in 2021. WNYT reports 33 year old Eric J. McIntosh pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Monday to felony first-degree robbery. Police said McIntosh robbed the Rite Aid store on Route 50 in the town of Wilton in June 2021. He stole more than $3,000 worth of medication.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 18 at 11 a.m.
Follow Up On Hunting Camp Fire That Killed Two Area Men
Two survivors of deadly fire at hunting camp had to travel several miles on a four-wheeler to call for help. Unfortunately, by the time fire fighters arrived it was too late to save two men who died in the massive blaze. The fire in Oneida County killed two men, Joseph Funk, 64, of Gansevoort, NY and 78-year-old Thomas Dingmon of Middle Grove.
$50,000 Powerball Ticket Sold In Lake George
A third-prize $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold in Lake George. The ticket for the Saturday, October 14 drawing was sold at Stewart’s at 1433 State Route 9. A third-prize ticket must match four numbers, plus the Powerball.
Two Area Men Die In Fire
Two people from the Capital Region were killed in an Oneida County fire. WNYT reports the fire happened at a hunting camp early Saturday morning. Joseph Funk, 64, from Gansevoort and Thomas Dingmon, 78, of Middle Grove died. A Fort Edward man was burned. He was flown to Upstate Medical in Syracuse. A Queensbury man was also taken to the hospital.
Work Begins On Winter’s Dream At Fort William Henry
We told you new attractions were coming in Lake George this winter and the work is underway on the Winter’s Dream attraction on the grounds of Fort William Henry. There will be light-and-sound shows and winter-themed projected videos. Workers were doing some landscaping at the fort Thursday preparing to start construction.
Washington County Man Faces Child Rape Counts
A Washington County man is being charged right now with repeatedly raping a child. WNYT reports Nickalas Connor will be charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child. That’s the state’s most serious sex charge and each count carries a maximum sentence of 25 years to life. Connor, who is 32, is accused of repeatedly raping a child under the age of 13.
Winery Sets $20K Goal For Breast Cancer Fundraiser
Adirondack Winery, the North Country’s largest producer of craft wines, has announced a $20,000 fundraising goal for its 11th Annual Drink Pink breast cancer awareness fundraiser. Sun Community News reports a portion of sales from all direct-to-consumer business units from Sept. 15 through Oct. 31 will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of the Adirondacks.
DEC Grant Coming To Warren County
DEC has announced more than $1.35 million in grants to six land trusts to help protect local forests. Among the recipients;
Adirondack Land Trust, Warren County: $350,000 to purchase a conservation easement that will protect 500 acres of forest in the Adirondack Park. The forest is comprised of beech and sugar maples with strands of hemlock-northern hardwoods.
