The Glens Falls City Common Council passed a resolution that will include a limit of 75 decibels, and all types of noise from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. WTEN reports a first violation will cost you $250. Any violations thereafter that could cost you $500 or even get you one month in jail.

Local Author Releases First Book
Local author, Fran Dingeman, releases her first book, called The Animal Menagerie. It’s an A to Z picture book for children ages 4-7. The characters are animals for each letter of the alphabet and aims to introduce dozens of creative new words to a child’s vocabulary.The new release retails for $21.99 plus tax.
Study Says New Yorkers Tops In Sleep Disorders
New York residents are the most likely to suffer from sleep disorders in the United States, according to a new study from Eachnight. Eachnight said it looked into online search data for keywords per 100,000 people to find the top 10 states with residents suffering from those disorders. The top searched keyword in New York State was insomnia, which reached 28,600 searches in 2023 at the time of this study.
Monahan’s Lawyers Want ‘Victim’ To Be Prohibited At Trial
The lawyers for Kevin Monahan, the Hebron man accused of killing Kaylin Gillis in his driveway are asking the judge to prohibit the use of the term “victim” at trial, reports WNYT. His lawyers also want the judge to prohibit use of “assailant” and “perpetrator” in front of a jury. The 20 year old Gillis was shot and killed as she rode in an SUV that mistakenly drove up Monahan’s driveway in Hebron in April.
Money For Local School To Establish Mental Health Clinic
More than $5.1 million has been awarded to support 137 school-based mental health clinic satellites throughout New York State, including 82 at high-needs schools. Sun Community News reports locally, Lake George Elementary and High School mental-health clinics will receive a portion.
Local Roads Impacted By Extreme Weather Getting State Funding
Governor Kathy Hochul announced Nov. 27 that $100 million in funding has been released to support the renewal of state roadways impacted by extreme weather. Among the local projects: $2.4 million to resurface Route 28N from the Essex County line to Route 28 in the Town of North Creek and $1.2 million to resurface Route 4 from the Whitehall Southern Village line to Route 18 in the Town of Whitehall.
Marine Archaeologist Pens Book On Fort William Henry
Marine archaeologist Joseph W. Zarzynski is well known in the Lake George area for his underwater studies but his latest work, however, moves onto dry land. “Fort William Henry’s Moments in Time,” released in August 2023, is his eighth book. The 70 chapters, culled from Zarzynski’s columns in the Lake George Mirror, present stories about the land at the head of Lake George. The book is complemented by over 75 photographs, illustrations, and maps.
Health Officials Want To Hear From Anyone Who Came In Contact With Rabid Animal
Follow up on the story involving at least three individuals who were bitten or scratched by a rabid fisher at Hudson Point Nature Preserve in Queensbury in recent days. Warren County Public Health wants to ensure that all who had contact with the animal notify Public Health officials so that rabies treatments can be pursued if deemed necessary,” a county press release says.
Anyone who has contact with animals in that area should check with health care providers.

Community Workshop On School Absenteeism
Glens Falls City School District has organized a community workshop to break down barriers to K-12 student attendance and success. The goal of this event is to bring increased awareness to current needs, and all of the resources and supports that exist in the community. It’s happening Monday, Dec. 4, 3-5 p.m. at the Crandall Public Library, Christine McDonald Community Room, 251 Glen Street, Glens Falls.
