Washington County Man Arrested For Firing Gun Inside Home

Police have arrested a Washington County man for allegedly firing a gun in a home and threatening to kill people. WNYT reports Dustin T. St. Andrews, 31, of Putnam is accused of retrieving and discharging the long gun after getting into an argument with the victim around 6 p.m. Tuesday. No one in the home was hurt.

Lake George Receiving $10 Million Through DRI

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that Lake George will receive $10 million in funding as the Capital Region winner of the seventh round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. The Town and Village of Lake George DRI application—titled, Lake George Forward: Transforming Downtown for Tomorrow—focuses on improving the quality of life and sense of place of the Canada Street corridor and adjacent waterfront to create a more vibrant and prosperous downtown. The DRI will help develop accommodations for a growing population and enhance the “visitor experience.”

Warrensburg Man Charged With Robbing Car Salesman At Knifepoint

A Warrensburg man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a car salesman at knifepoint and led police on a chase in the stolen vehicle. Warren County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Round Point Road in Queensbury at about 6 p.m. Dec. 26 for a report of a knifepoint robbery. Law enforcement learned the victim, a salesperson from Della Mazda, was out on a test drive when the potential customer stopped the car in the pull-off by Round Pond, displayed a knife and stole their personal belongings. The suspect, later identified as Jules W. Lyons-Sylne, 35 of Warrensburg fled the area in the 2024 Mazda CX-9, leaving the victim standing on the side of the road.

Making Sure Warren County Seniors Have Transportation

Two Warren County agencies are stepping up to fill a void to ensure that senior citizens in northern and western Warren County can safely get to and from grocery shopping, visits to pharmacies and other essential errands.
Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging and Warren County Veterans Services have teamed up to start a new senior transportation program that will provide those over the age of 60 and military veterans of any age free shuttle bus transportation for errands in the Glens Falls/Queensbury area, starting January 2, 2024.

Roadway Challenges In Warren County

Warren County is facing a serious challenge as unprecedented rainfall has taken a toll on its infrastructure, leading to urgent repairs and a state of emergency declaration. Roads such as County Route 11 and Trout Lake Road have been closed, and Lake Luzerne’s Call Street was temporarily reopened for the holiday but is now shut down for culvert work and paving. The local Department of Public Works has already set a schedule for repairs, starting with Trout Lake Road this week.

South Glens Falls Family Hit Hard By House Fire

A South Glens Falls family lost everything in a fire just days before Christmas. WNYT reports the home caught on fire on Friday evening. Two adults and two children – ages 4 and 17 – made it out alive, but the family’s cat was killed. A GoFundMe has been set up to try to help this family recover some of what they lost.

New Year’s Polar Plunge In Lake George

The New Year’s Day Polar Plunge is returning to Lake George Sunday, Jan. 1, and it is to begin at 1 p.m. Sun Community News reports registration for the event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Duffy’s Tavern, 20 Amherst St. in Lake George, and polar swimmers are to charge off Shepard Park Beach into Lake George every 15 minutes in waves of 400 people.
