Medline Industries, LP is holding a job fair on Tuesday, May 28 at their facility on on Glens Falls Tech Park Drive in Glens Falls, and Warren County Department of Workforce Development is working with them to fill their openings.
Production assistants, material handlers, line assembly staff and machine operators start at $17+ an hour, and are eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

Bolton Applies To Be A Pro-Housing Community

Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced that 213 New York municipalities have launched applications to be certified as Pro-Housing Communities, to increase the housing supply. The Town of Bolton in Warren County is one of them. The NYS Consolidated Funding Application, which can be used to apply for the NY Main Street Program, the REDC Capital Fund, and Market New York, is open through July 31

Group Opposes Herbicide For Lake George

The Lake George Association wants Gov. Kathy Hochul to intervene on a proposal to introduce a controversial herbicide into the lake. The herbicide, a chemical called ProcellaCOR, would help manage the spread of milfoil, an invasive weed. WNYT reports members are concerned that introducing the chemical runs the risk of introducing and spreading PFAS into the water. PFAS is a chemical that made people sick in Hoosick Falls and other communities around the state.

Lake George Trolley Returns Friday

The Lake George Trolley is back. Capital District Transportation Authority – CDTA has unveiled the schedule for the iconic trolley, which will run between Glens Falls and Lake George for its 30th straight year starting Friday, May 24.
CDTA held an event in Lake George to announce the schedule and talk about its transition to assume the operations of the former Greater Glens Falls Transit.

Warren County Sheriff’s Office Warns Of New Scam

Warren County sheriff’s deputies are warning residents of a scam reported in Queensbury. WNYT reports there has been an uptick in scam calls in which the caller identifies themselves as a member of local law enforcement agencies. Deputies remind everyone to never meet a caller in public, and never give out personal information over the phone, or information about your loved ones.

Memorial Meltdown Music Festival In Lake George

The Memorial Meltdown music festival is returning to Lake George for Memorial Day weekend. Saturday, May 25 is being headlined by The Revivalists and Sunday, May 26 is being headlined by Dispatch. Memorial Meltdown takes place in Lake George’s Charles R. Wood Park. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. each day.

Outdoor Recreation Economy Strategic Plan In Warren County

Warren County Planning is in the process of developing an Outdoor Recreation Economy Strategic Plan. The goal of the strategic plan is to provide a county-wide perspective on outdoor recreation priorities for county government and its many municipal, business, and nonprofit partners. The plan will identify the current status of outdoor recreation opportunities, economic impact, and assets in Warren County.

Glens Falls Lawmakers Designate Flag Pole For Commemorative Flags

The Glens Falls Common Council has designated one flagpole to fly certain commemorative flags. The pole is located near Ridge Street in City Park. WTEN reports council approved changes to the city’s flag policy last week. It came after several weeks of discussions between the council and community members over whether the rainbow-colored Pride flag will be flown during Pride Month in June.

Town Meeting May 22nd On Lake George DRI

The Town and Village of Lake George will receive $10 million in funding as the Capital Region seventh round winner of the State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). The Town and Village are excited to launch the next steps of the DRI, the State’s signature program for community revitalization and economic development program at the May 22nd public workshop. It takes place between 6p and 8p at Lake George High School.

DOJ Says Warren County Resident Lost $341K In Crypto Scam

The U.S. Secret Service seized a web domain that was used in a cryptocurrency scheme, referred to as a “pig butchering” scheme. The Department of Justice (DOJ) says a Warren County victim lost over $341,000 in the scheme. WTEN reports the DOJ says between August 2022 and July 2023, scammers induced a Warren County victim to wire money to the now-seized domain of OKEX-NFT.net. The unidentified victim believed they were partaking in a legitimate cryptocurrency opportunity and lost upwards of $341,000.
