Archaeologists At Battlefield Park In Lake George

Archaeologists are at Battlefield Park in Lake George where an archaeological study will take place over the next three weeks. The study is being conducted thanks to the organizing by the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance and Skidmore College. According to WTEN, the team hopes to excavate two sites in the park within the next three weeks, with the goal of unearthing and preserving the site’s history.

Man Charged With Drug Counts In Queensbury

A Brooklyn man is accused of selling crack cocaine to an undercover officer and was nabbed in Queensbury. WNYT reports 33 year old Rashad D. Harvey allegedly had over 200 grams packaged for sale in a room at a Queensbury hotel where he was staying, along with equipment consistent with a drug sales operation, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Invasive Species Awareness Week Events

This is New York State Invasive Species Awareness Week, highlighting the problems that invasive species cause and how we can counteract them. If you want to help locally, the folks at Crandall Park Beautification Committee are teaming Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District for efforts to remove invasive species. There is a particular need for volunteers during weekday afternoons this week, as well as on Friday, June 7.

Greenwich Water System Leak

The Village of Greenwich Department of Public Works (DPW) announced that it is actively searching for a leak in its water system. The DPW asks system users to conserve as much water as possible until further notice. WTEN reports the Greenwich splash pad is closed until further notice. Residents should also refrain from watering lawns and plants, washing cars or filling swimming pools.

Bobcat Making Debut At Six Flags Great Escape

The new Bobcat coaster is roaring into Six Flags Great Escape this summer, the first new coaster there since 2003.
The Bobcat, marks the first new wooden coaster introduced to New York state since 1999, replacing the Alpine Bobsled, which officially retires on Sept. 4, 2023.

Washington County Man Charged In Knife Assault

A Fort Edward man was charged in knife assault. According to WNYT, 46 year old Brian J. Duffney allegedly injured another man in a fight at Duffney’s home. He was charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is due in Fort Edward Town Court at a later date.

Glens Falls Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Counts

A 54-year-old Glens Falls man pled guilty to child pornography offenses. WRGB reports Norbert Morgan pled guilty on May 24, 2024, to distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography under post-release supervision for prior child exploitation offenses. Authorities say they found more than 600 images of child porn on a tablet belonging to the suspect.

Americade, Tourist Dollars Roll In To Lake George

If you’re headed up to Lake George you’ll notice motorcycles everywhere. It’s part of the week-long Americade Motorcycle Festival. WTEN reports local officials including Mayor Ray Perry hope tourists spend money as Americade brings in a large portion of the village’s $860,000 in annual sales tax revenue.

Kaylin Gillis’ Father Discusses A&E Show On Daughter’s Death

Kaylin Gillis’ father, Andrew Gillis, has a strong response after news that the man convicted of shooting and killing his daughter might be telling his story to the producers of an A&E show, reports WNYT. The producers of the show call “Accused: Guilty or Innocent” are seeking to interview Monahan for an episode. Gillis’ father Andrew wrote to the network, telling them it would be in extremely poor taste to conduct and air an interview.
