Lake George Commission Approves Boat Storage Facility

The Lake George Park Commission has approved plans to construct a boat storage facility near Northway Exit 21 that will be able to accommodate more than 300 vessels. The plans, submitted by Yankee Boating Center, which operates a pair of marinas in Lake George and Diamond Point, include constructing three 100-by-100 foot storage buildings that will be able to accommodate a total of 225 vessels. An additional 109 vessels will be stored outdoors. The buildings will be constructed over a five-year period.

Lake George Looking For Parking Meter Enforcement Help

Village of Lake George is looking for employees to help with meter enforcement between May and October. The job pays $14 an hour and the person hired is responsible for enforcing parking laws. Will be using a hand-held device to scan registrations for those violating the parking code and issuing tickets, and will submit daily reports and interact with tourists to give directions and information for the area. Position is split into a day shift and night shift; days 10am-5pm, nights 5pm-11pm.

Gov. Murphy Announces Easing Of Restrictions

Governor Murphy today announced an additional easing of restrictions, including a removal of all percentage capacity limits for indoor and outdoor businesses, a lifting of the prohibition on indoor bar seating, and an end to the outdoor gathering limit. As detailed below, some changes will take effect on Friday, May 7, with others taking effect on Wednesday, May 19, in coordination with both New York and Connecticut. Outdoor gatherings limit – The limit will increase to 500 persons, up from 200. Large venue outdoor capacity – The maximum capacity allowed will increase to 50% for venues with 1,000 fixed seats or more, as long as six feet of distance is maintained. Currently, indoor catered events are limited to 35% of the capacity of the room in which they are held, up to 150 persons. The capacity limit for those events, including proms, will be raised to 50%, up to a maximum of 250 individuals.

Latest Warren County COVID Caseload

Warren County Health Services reported three (3) new Warren County resident COVID-19 cases as of Sunday morning, along with 11 additional recoveries.
Three (3) individuals are hospitalized, one (1) fewer than Saturday because of one (1) discharge. Two (2) are moderately ill and one (1) is critically ill. One (1) with moderate illness is not in the hospital.
Health Services staff are monitoring 59 active COVID-19 cases as of Sunday. 55 of these cases involve mild illness.
The last date that Warren County’s daily active caseload was as low was December 2, 2020, when there were 50 active cases.

Arrest Made In Lake George School Threat

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested Gavin Cohen on one count of Making a Terroristic Threat.in Cohen on one count of Making a Terroristic Threat. On Thursday, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a report from an administrator at the Lake George High School. Based on the information provided a student in the school received a threatening message via social media. As a result of the threat, the Lake George School district cancelled all in person classes on April 30, 2021 and operated remotely.

Revaluation In Glens Falls

A revaluation of the nearly 6,000 parcels in Glens Falls will be conducted beginning this summer. Common Council recently approved a $305,000 contract for KLW Appraisal Group of Buffalo to revaluate each property in the city and hold at least 10 public meetings throughout what is expected to be a yearlong process.
The payment will be made in two parts, with half being allocated at the beginning to the process and the remaining fee being paid off once work is complete.

DEC Announces Tree, Plant Grants

DEC announced that grants totaling $1.18 million have been awarded to communities across the state to inventory, plant, and maintain public trees. The grants are part of the second phase of grants through DEC’s Division of Lands and Forests’ Urban and Community Forestry Program, which works to increase public awareness of the importance of trees and help communities develop and implement comprehensive tree management plans to create healthy forests while enhancing quality of life.
