Hoffman Car Wash is planning a second Queensbury location. The Post Star reports the business has an application to build one on the site of the old Adirondack Car Wash site on Route 9. Hoffman already has a site at 265 Quaker Road. The second location would be about 2.5 miles away from the first.

Massive Tip For A Lake George Waiter

Lake George Beach Club waiter Raffaele Sanchez-Anunziato got quite a tip from a customer recently. Turns out that customer was the owner of Paesan’s Pizza and he tacked on an $1,840 tip to a bill that came in just over $70.00… a roughly 2.500% gratuitiy. Ironically, says Sanchez-Anunziato, Paesans is where the Beach Club gets its pizza from.

Ranger Rescue In Lake George Wilderness Area

A ranger rescue in Fort Ann, Washington County. Rangers responded to a call for help from a group of hikers on Buck Mountain in the Lake George Wilderness Area. The hikers reported that while exploring the summit of the mountain, a 14-year-old hiker from New Jersey, walked away from the group and was missing. While Rangers were hiking in to meet the party, the missing girl made her way off the mountain to a trailhead on the other side. Rangers met up with the group of hikers and escorted them off the mountain, reuniting them with the missing girl.

Grant For Lake George Battlefield Park

Governor . Cuomo announced $900,000 in grants to support 30 not-for-profit organizations involved with stewardship of state parks, trails, historic sites and public lands. Lake George Battlefield Park (Fort George) Alliance ($2,040) – To develop, print and distribute an updated Battlefield Park Tour Guide and rack card to build awareness of the new Lake George Battlefield Park Visitor Interpretive Center.

Blood Drive, Amid Shortage, At Aviation Mall Friday

A community blood drive hosted by the American Red Cross will be held at the Aviation Mall across from Peter Harris on Friday, July 30 from 1-6 p.m. The Post Star reports the Red Cross said it is experiencing a “severe blood shortage” and is working hard to meet the needs of patients and hospitals. The organization said it is also in need of volunteers to fill the role of Donor Ambassadors at area blood drives to answer questions and coordinate scheduling.

Delta Variant Surfaces In Warren County

Warren County Health Services’ Tuesday reported the first known delta variant case among the county’s population. The resident was diagnosed on July 8, with the variant designation not determined until later. No information was given on where contact with the specific variant originated. The county confirmed five new cases and one recovery on Tuesday, adding up to a current total of 40 active coronavirus cases.

DEC Issues Advisory About Swollen Rivers In Adirondack Park

Heavy and frequent rains across the state have swollen rivers in Adirondack Park. Officials are urging hikers and outdoor recreationists to use caution. DEC Is warning residents and visitors that trails, campgrounds, and popular water recreation areas in the Adirondacks are flooding due to weeks of high precipitation. Be cautious in and around areas of high water.
Do not attempt to cross high, fast-moving rivers or streams without a bridge, If camping near water, be prepared to move if water begin to rise and don’t drive through flooded waters.

Vax Site At Aviation Mall Now Closed

Monday was the last day of operations for the New York State Mass Vaccination site at Aviation Mall. It began operations on March 19th, which coincided with the one-year anniversary of our first COVID case in Warren County.
In light of the site closure, local residents should contact their local public health department (518-761-6580 in Warren County), local pharmacy or physician’s office to discuss vaccine availability or appointments. Many local pharmacies have walk-in availability of COVID-19 vaccine as of this week.

New Campaign Will Target Zip Codes Where Vax Rates Are Low

Gov. Andrew Cuomo held a coronavirus briefing where he announced a new campaign to help reduce COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy through community-based organizations in zip codes state with low vaccination rates. The governor said 75% of adults in New York state are now fully vaccinated, but the 25% of those unvaccinated account for approximately 3.5 million people.

Money For Some Septic System Upgrades On Lake George

If you own property on or near Lake George, the Warren County Board of Supervisors worked with New York State for funding to help address the issues caused by problematic septic systems on and around Lake George.
This funding from New York State, which will be administered by Warren County Planning, will help water quality in the watershed. Find more information on the Warren County Facebook page about the program.
