Warren County Health Services confirmed 17 new COVID-19 cases and 13 recoveries on Tuesday. According to WTEN, The county is currently monitoring 134 active coronavirus cases, including eight who are hospitalized. That’s up by one from Monday. The county is also still seeing problems stemming from out-of-state travel and children ages 12 and under, who still cannot be vaccinated. The county has had 125 coronavirus cases among fully vaccinated residents.

Hannaford Issues Cooked Shrimp Recall
Hannaford is recalling some cooked shrimp because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall involves Nature’s Promise 41/50 Tail-On Cook Peeled and Deveined Shrimp and Hannaford Cooked Medium Shrimp 41/50. They were sold between May 20, 2021 and August 14, 2021. No injuries or illness have been reported.
Training Offered For Lake George Triathlon Festival
On Sept. 4-5, Lake George is welcoming runners, bikers and swimmers to its shores for the Lake George Triathlon Festival. Also, the village is hosting a series of training camps to get them prepared. The first annual Lake George Tri-Camp is set for Aug. 20-22. Those who register will work with coaches, learn the courses ahead of time, and receive a video gate analysis.
Adirondack Harvest Festival Expanding
If you dont mind a road trip north, the annual Adirondack Harvest Festival is moving away from a one-day event this year. This year, the festival, held by agricultural group Adirondack Harvest, is spreading its push for sustainable farming and community across a week. The festival’s Open Farm Week is set for Sept. 13-19, offering farm tours, hands-on activities and more across over 75 events.
Police Officer Lauded For Saving Choking Baby
A Glens Falls police officer is being called a hero, credited with saving the life of a 3-week-old baby girl. WNYT reports It was just after 7 p.m. on July 12. Officer Hunter Barton is the first on the scene to a call about a baby who had stopped breathing.
He saved 3-week old Laci Mickel, by clearing formula that had lodged in her airway.
Washington County Resident Dies From COVID
An 86-year-old Washington County resident has died from COVID-19 — the county’s first death from the virus since March 26. The Post Star reports Washington County Public Health Services reported on Tuesday the person had recently been hospitalized. The individual was not vaccinated, according to Public Health Services.
Police Say Fort Edward Shooting Gang Related
Three people were injured in a shooting Monday night at a home in Fort Edward, the result, say police, of a feud between motorcycle gangs. The Post Star reports the shooting took place just before 11 p.m. at a residence at 219 State Route 197.
The three victims fled the scene and were dropped off separately in private vehicles at Glens Falls Hospital. No word on suspects or arrests.

Latest Warren County COVID Stats
Warren County Health Services confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases and seven recoveries on Wednesday, adding up to a current case total of 142 cases. WTEN reports 11 coronavirus cases were hospitalized as of Wednesday, including two considered in critical condition. Nine of Wednesday’s new cases originated from a coronavirus outbreak at a county nursing home. All residents at the nursing home were fully vaccinated.

Comptroller’s Office Looks At Lake Luzerne
The state Comptroller’s Office is auditing the town after the Lake Luzerne Town Board questioned several expenses of Supervisor Gene Merlino, including improper overtime payments and purchases without board approval. The Post Star reports
the board passed a vote of “no confidence” in Merlino at the June 13 meeting and directed him to turn over his keys and provide access to all records of his office. He’s been out on medical leave since.
