The Great Escape’s Fright Fest Returns

The Great Escape’s Fright Fest is making a comeback, featuring dance shows, terrifying haunted houses, and startling scare zones. The Great Escape is also extending the scare season, by opening up the theme park in the evenings for more Fright by Night thrills, on Fridays, 5 PM – 10 PM, beginning October 8. The Park is also looking to hire actors, entertainers, show techs, security, food service, and ride operators.

Initiative Could Help Some Lake George Homeowners With Costs

In Lake George, homeowners meeting certain financial criteria may get financial assistance with home repairs as soon as next year if an initiative is passed. The Sun Community News reports money to help would come from the state’s Affordable Home Ownership Development Program. It could provide up to $35,000 to qualifying homeowners of modest means for repairs to heating, ventilation, plumbing, and lighting deficiencies in their houses, as well as installation of energy-saving upgrades and structural repairs including replacing deteriorating roofs.

Lake George Central School District Superintendent Leaving

Lynne Rutnik, Superintendent of the Lake George Central School District for five years, is leaving her post to take on the role of Deputy Superintendent of the Schenectady Central School District. The Sun Community News reports Rutnik announced her resignation in a letter on the Lake George school website, noting that she was “deeply saddened” to be leaving her position.

159 Breakthrough Cases Of COVID In County Thus Far In Pandemic

Warren County Health Services reported nine (9) additional COVID-19 cases Monday along with three (3) additional recoveries.
One of Monday’s cases involved an individual who had been fully vaccinated. As the Delta variant of COVID-19 has spread and the number of vaccinated residents has increased, the number of “breakthrough” cases of COVID involving vaccinated individuals has been increasing as well. As of Monday, 159 of 41,733 fully vaccinated Warren County residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

Warren County announces the new Lake George Water Quality Reporting Tool at LGReport.org. Interested parties can report water conditions or areas of concern through their cell phone’s web browser. It could be sediment or contaminants or soil erosion. You can document your exact location and provide information and photors for county experts to look at.

Washington County Fair Opens Monday

The Washington County Fair opens on Monday, August 23rd. It runs through August 29th in Greenwich. WRGB reports among items new for 2021, is a Fair Week Food Truck Corral, Hot Diggity Dog and Military Appreciation Day. At this time, the fair asks non-vaccinated guests to wear face coverings. A day pass is $12.00 and a week pass is $36.00.

Hochul Talks Mask Mandates

Lieutenant Gov. Kathy Hochul says state has the authority to mandate masks at schools. Hochul is set to take office as New York’s first female governor on Aug. 24, when Gov. Andrew Cuomo will resign She said,
“In a matter of days, I’ll be able to say we will have mask mandates, I just don’t have that authority at this time, when I’m not going to overstep.”

Warren County At The Ready For Coronavirus Booster Shots

As of Thursday, Warren county was still awaiting new standing orders on administering a third coronavirus dose to immunocompromised residents. Current orders allow two shots for both Moderna and Pfizer shots. WTEN reports the County fully intends to serve the population for additional shots and will schedule them as soon as possible.
