Warren County Health Services reports an additional Warren County resident death from COVID-19. An individual in their 80s passed away after a stay in a hospital. This person lived at home before becoming ill, and had not been vaccinated.
Health Services reported 35 additional COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, along with 16 recoveries. Health Services is monitoring 282 active COVID cases as of Tuesday, 271 of them involving mild illness.

South Glens Falls Stabbing Update
A stabbing Saturday night in South Glens Falls was a dispute over drugs. WNYT reports 26 year old Isaiah Lofland is accused of stabbing Norman Himes inside a home at 189 Main St. in the village. Himes was rushed to Glens Falls Hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to be okay. After nearly 24 hours of looking for Lofland, state police found him hiding out in a friend’s trailer home on Fortsville Road in Moreau.
Celebrating The Pumpkin In Warrensburg
Two area enterprises are coming together to celebrate the pumpkin. The Sun Community News reports a pumpkin painting session is to be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at Tommy Guns Pizzeria, 3745 Main St. in Warrensburg. Kids are invited to choose a free pumpkin, express their creativity by decorating it, and take it home to enjoy over the week prior to Halloween.
Plans In The Works To Replace Bridge Over Northway Exit 17
They’re looking to replace the Route 9 bridge over the Northway at Exit 17 and to completely reconfigure the huge cloverleaf interchange there. The Sun Community News reports that exit provides primary access to Moreau Lake State Park — visited by 300,000 people annually — as well as to the cities of South Glens Falls and Glens Falls. It would be about a $13.5 million project.
SP Issue Advisory In Wake Of Queensbury Vehicle Break Ins
State Police are investigating a series of thefts that occurred in the town of Queensbury overnight Sunday into Monday. Multiple residents report that they had items stolen from the vehicles. State Police would like to remind the public to lock your vehicles, even in your own driveway, close all windows and sunroof, DO NOT leave valuable items inside your vehicle, DO NOT leave your keys in your vehicle and keep your garage door closed and locked.

Granville Man Faces Bail Skipping Charges
A Granville man arrested last month for allegedly skipping bail faces 1 to 3 years in state prison. According to the Post Star, 31 year old Gregory R. Skaczkowski was charged after skipping a court date after being released on his own recognizance following a driving while intoxicated arrest earlier in the year. He’ll be sentenced on Oct. 15.
Latest Warren County COVID Cases
Warren County Health Services reported 33 additional COVID-19 cases on Thursday, along with 33 recoveries. Health Services is monitoring 263 active COVID cases as of Tuesday, 256 of them involving mild illness.
Seven (7) are hospitalized, two (2) more than Wednesday. Four (4) are in critical condition and three (3) others have moderate illness. Ten (10) of Thursday’s cases involved individuals who had been fully vaccinated.
Lake George Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary’s Annual Basket Day
The Lake George Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary’s Annual Basket Day is returning Nov. 7th. The Lake George Examiner reports the event was canceled last year due to the pandemic. Basket Day features more than one hundred donated baskets that attendees may bid on. In addition, the Auxiliary is holding several special raffles. Tickets must be bought in advance.
SUNY Says Almost All Students Are Vaccinated
SUNY told students on September 27 to get vaccinated for COVID or risk being kicked out of classes. WRGB reports two weeks after they started deregistering students, SUNY said only a small number of students still haven’t rolled up their sleeves for the shot. SUNY reported 99.5% of its students have gotten vaccinated as of Thursday.
Authorities Say Alcohol Appears To Be Factor In Serious Lake George Crash
State police said alcohol was likely a factor in the crash caused by a woman who drove the wrong way on the Northway last month. The Post Star reports the accident happened on September 28th in Lake George when 59 year old Cynthia Murphy of South Glens Falls was traveling the wrong way in the northbound side of the highway, and collided with a car driven by 35 year old Jamie Yard of Lake George, who suffered serious injuries in the crash.
