Harm Reduction Vending Machine Coming To Washington County

Adirondack Health Institute’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) has partnered with several agencies to launch the installation of three harm reduction vending machines. They will be installed in mid-July and contain Narcan, fentanyl test strips, xylazine test strips, wound care kits, and feminine hygiene products. One will be placed at Cambridge Public Library.

Funds To Provide Free Summer Meals For Kids

No Kid Hungry New York announced Monday over $146,000 in grants to help 11 public school districts and community organizations in rural areas provide more kids with free, nutritious meals all summer long. Among the local recipients is the Hartford Central School District in Washington County.

Lender Appointed To Lake George Park Commission

Recently, Silver Bay YMCA’s VP of Development and Government Relations, Walt Lender, was appointed to the Lake George Park Commission, an independent New York State agency overseen by a 10-member Board of Commissioners, appointed by the governor (apart from one DEC Commissioner designee) for nine-year terms. Sun Community News reports the commissioners meet monthly to take action on applications for dock, marina, charter boat, stormwater management, and other projects within the Lake George Park.

Town Of Lake George To Offer Free Outdoor Movies

The Town of Lake George is embarking on a new project for the municipality: free weekly outdoor movies for the public.
According to the Sun Community News, the family-oriented movies will be presented in Delong-Usher Park, likely beginning in mid-July. The names of the movies and the days and dates they are to be shown are to be posted on the town’s website, Farrell said, adding that they will likely start as soon as mid-July.

Lake George’s Shepard Park Amphitheater Bandstand Destroyed In Fire

The iconic Shepard Park amphitheater’s bandstand/stage in Lake George village was destroyed by fire about an hour before dawn on Sunday, June 30 — as the summer season in the village was approaching peak activity. According to the Sun Community News, the Lake George Fire Department was notified of the fire by Warren County Dispatch Center at 3:42 a.m. and firefighters responded to the scene to find the structure engulfed in flames. Concerts and programs are scheduled to occur nearly every day of the week through this summer in the amphitheater, but Perry said the activities would continue as planned.

Crews Continue Work On Damaged Lake George Islands

Crews Thursday were still working to resolve storm damage from last week across a 15-mile stretch of Lake George islands. Camping sites on Narrow Island and Glen Island were closed through Wednesday while responders cleared trees and repaired docks. WTEN reports DEC says three facilities were damaged.

The Town of Hague on Lake George will host their Annual 3rd of July Celebration with fireworks, music, food, and fun for all on Wednesday, July 3. Warren County Receives More Grant Money For Septic System Improvements

Warren County has received another round of New York State funding for septic system improvements.
An additional $400,000 in funding has been received from New York State to assist property owners on Schroon Lake, Brant Lake, Loon Lake, Trout Lake, Schroon River, some of their tributaries and more.
Property owners will be eligible for grants for up to 50% project funding, up to $10,000 per project, to use toward replacement of septic systems or cesspools or upgrading of system components.

Summer-Lovin’ Funfest Returning To Lake George

The second annual Kelly’s Angels Summer-Lovin’ Funfest will be returning to Lake George from Thursday, July 18, to Sunday, July 21. WTEN reports Shepard Park on the Lake George waterfront will host the event raising money for Kelly’s Angels’ mission to help children and families dealing with the loss of a loved one, serious illness, or significant adversity.
