More Winter Weather
Another winter blast is upon us. Thursday we’re expected to see a transition in precipitation that is expected to result in snow in our area Thursday and by Friday morning, cold air will push farther south and a changeover to all snow is expected in all areas of the region. A winter storm watch runs from 4pm this afternoon until 5pm Friday. The prediction is for as much as 8 to 14 inches of snow for the area
New Website For Traffic Complaints
Those who use Warren County’s roadways can now report traffic complaints via a secure website through a new program being used by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Glens Falls Police called “Safe Pace.” Policde agencies have begun using this new online portal to allow those who have concerns about traffic conditions anywhere in Warren County to report them remotely. There’s a link to it on the Warren County Facebook page.
60th Annual Lake George Winter Carnival
The 60th annual Lake George Winter Carnival begins Saturday at 11 a.m. and will continue with weekend events for the duration of February. The tradition is returning this year after the carnival committee chose to cancel the yearly event in 2021 due to the pandemic. The Post Star reports tickets for this year’s events can be ordered by pre-sale through the carnival’s website or Facebook page.
Warren County Ice Fishing Challenge
The Warren County Ice Fishing Challenge returns. For the month of February, anglers can share their ice-fishing catch on Instagram. The first 100 ice fishermen, women and children to do so will receive a free Warren County Ice Fishing Challenge T-shirt. Fish must be caught in Warren County between February 1-28. and there must be a picture posted on Instagram and hashtag #mylgarea and tag @lakegeorgearea.
Highlighting First Wilderness Communities
Warren County’s First Wilderness Heritage Corridor is working with Warren County Planning and the staff at Cliff & Redfield Interactive of Saratoga Springs on a new effort to highlight all of the great things about First Wilderness communities, such as the recreational and cultural opportunities and historic significance of our beautiful section of the Southern Adirondacks. You will learn more about where to hike and paddle, neat places to visit and the history of our First Wilderness towns and hamlets.
Discounted Internet Service Offer
New York State announced a new effort this week to raise awareness to discounted broadband Internet service rates for New Yorkers through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program.
New York residents can get up to $30 off monthly broadband fees. In addition to the $30 a month assistance financially eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
Woman Accused Of Trying To Meet Girl For Sex In Warren County
A woman has been arrested after allegedly trying to meet an 11-year-old for sex in Warren County. WTEN reports 31 year old Scarlet Shadows of West Rutland, Vermont, is facing the charge of attempting to entice a minor into sexual activity. Shadows was communicating with and undercover officer thinking the officer was a young girl.

Anglers are once again encouraged to take to frozen waters of Lake George. WNYT reporots The Warren County Fishing Challenge is returning for the second year. For the month of February, you can go fish, and share your ice-fishing catch on Instagram using the hashtag #mylgarea or send them an email.
Whitehall School District Receives Grant From Dollar General
Whitehall School District is receiving $25,000 from Dollar General. WNYT reports it’s part of the company’s “Beyond Words” grant. In August 2020, buildings in the school district sustained heavy damage from a storm that led to the school being closed for months. Grants from the program are given to public school libraries damaged by a natural disaster.
