Following the pre-dawn fire on June 30 that destroyed the Lake George Shepard Park amphitheater’s bandstand, the village government demolished the charred wreckage, set up a temporary tent, restored power to the park, and began planning to replace the bandstand/stage — all within a few days. According to Lake George Mayor Ray Perry, they are 100% up and running and the summer concert series is already back in play.

Starting Monday, the Glens Falls Building and Codes Office is temporarily moving. WNYT reports the office will be located at 333 Glen Street, Suite 702. This is so repairs can be made to the office space on Dix Avenue.
Area Groups Get Grant To Battle Hemlock Wooly Adelgid
A new coalition of groups working within the Lake George watershed has been awarded a $108,000 grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program. The Lake George Mirror reports the money will be used to develop a unified, comprehensive approach to the protection of the area’s hemlock forests, now under siege from an invasive pest, the Hemlock wooly adelgid (HWA).
Red Cross Blood Drive Friday
Warren County NY Public Health organized their second blood drive of 2024 for a week from today, Friday, July 12, as we continue to deal with a nationwide shortage of blood. It will be held in the Human Services Building on the Warren County Municipal Center campus, 1340 Route 9, Queensbury. Those who give blood will get a free Red Cross umbrella.
DEC Officers Remove Rattlesnake From Lake George Hotel Common Area
Two environmental conservation officers were in the right place at the right time to catch a rattlesnake at a hotel.
WNYT reports the officers were attending a training course in Lake George on the safe handling of rattlesnakes, when they received a call that a snake had gotten into the common area of a hotel on the lake, according to the Department of Environmental Conservation. The officers responded, caught the young timber rattle snake and relocated it into the wild.
16 Year Old Charged In Stabbing In Fort Edward
A 16-year-old is accused a stabbing another teen Thursday in Fort Edward. According to WNYT, the victim, who is also 16, had multiple stab wounds and a punctured lung, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. He is in stable condition at Albany Medical Center. The suspect was charged with felony counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanor menacing.
Washington County Jail Inmate Charged With Assault
A Granville inmate was arrested on Tuesday and accused of assaulting another inmate in Washington County Jail (399 Broadway, Fort Edward). WRGB reports 33 year old Nicole M. Rosado is charged with 2nd-degree Assault and is scheduled to appear in Fort Edward Town Court at a later date.
Woman Arrested For Trying To Interfere With Lake George Herbicide Application
A woman was arrested Saturday for allegedly trying to stop a controversial herbicide from being used in Lake George. The herbicide is designed to kill the invasive species milfoil. WNYT reports Helena Rice was on a personal watercraft in Sheep Meadow Bay and tried to interfere with the application of ProcellaCOR. She was arrested on numerous Navigation Law violations as well as obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and reckless operation.
Live Events Return To Shepard Park Amphitheater
A Tom Petty tribute band marked the return of live events at the Shepard Park amphitheater Tuesday following the weekend fire that destroyed the structure. Lake George plans to rebuild the structure, but that will take time. A temporary set up is in place in the meantime. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical. No one was hurt.
Lake George Mayor Vowing Quick Return Of Shepard Park Concerts
We told you about an early morning fire Sunday destroyed the amphitheater at Shepherd Park in Lake George which hosts summer concerts almost daily. WRGB reports the village’s Mayor Raymond Perry isn’t letting the fire get in the way of those summer shows. While Monday’s concert was canceled, Perry says he’s hoping to get shows back on by Tuesday.
