Two finalists have been chosen for the open superintendent of schools position in the Greenwich Central School District. According to the Post Star, Tuesday Jennie Mueller, the current Greenwich pre-K through sixth grade principal, will speak to community members, parents, staff and students at the first of the two meet-the-candidate forums. The second candidate to speak is Jennifer Steimle. She currently serves as the director of K-12 Humanities and Elementary Education for the Saratoga Springs City School District. Steimle will address the district on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Glens Falls Hospital Recognized For Alzheimer’s Care
Glens Falls Hospital and Albany Medical Center Hospital were each awarded $2.35 million in state funding from the Department of Health Monday. According to the Post Star, the money, to be distributed over a five-year period, is a direct result of the hospitals again being named as Centers of Excellence in Alzheimer’s Disease care. diagnosing patients, development of comprehensive care plans, assistance with the management of complex patient situations, and referrals of patients to specialty care.
Flooding Damaged Lakefront Terrace Resort In Lake George
Clean up and assessment will continue this week at the Lakefront Terrace Resort in Lake George Village,after torrential rains last week caused extensive damage to the property. WNYT reports fast-moving water flowing underneath the asphalt undermined the integrity of the ground and caused the defenseless driveway from Route 9N all the way down the lake to crumble, starting around 10 p.m. Thursday. At daybreak the water continued to flow rapidly over, under and through the property.
Washington County Man Faces DWI Counts
A Washington County man is facing charges, after sheriff’s deputies say he was found asleep in his car, in the middle of the road. WNYT reports charges for Casey Lebarron include aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law. He was found stopped in the middle of Mountain Road in the town of Easton, running with the lights on. Deputies say they found Lebarron asleep in the driver’s seat – and a child asleep in the backseat.
Fort Edward Gets Water Grant, Loan
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that the State Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors has approved more than $189 million in funding for nine municipalities and public authorities for critical wastewater and drinking water infrastructure projects. Village of Fort Edward in Washington County – $2,766,698 WIIA grant and $1,844,466 in short-term, market-rate financing to replace approximately 7,650 linear feet of aged and corroded watermain, replace a 200,000-gallon water storage tank and upgrade the existing booster pump station
Washington County Man Charged With Rape
A 21-year-old man from Washington County is accused of rape. WNYT reports Marcus Opulski was arrested and charged with rape and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say he had sex with a girl who is younger than 15 years old.
He posted bail and has been released.
Zaugg Draws 32 Year Sentence In Son’s Death
A Warren County man was sentenced to prison Thursday morning for killing his own infant son. According to WNYT, 20 year old Tyler Zaugg was sentenced to 32 years in prison for taking the life of his son, Noah. The child was just seven weeks old when he was rushed to the hospital. Zaugg, who was his father, called 911, claiming he was giving the baby a bath and the child “slipped under the water.”
Gold Star Mothers In Lake George Later This Month
The American Gold Star Mothers 85th New York convention will be held in late April at the Holiday Inn Resort, the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce announced this week. The Post Star reports “ the public will be invited to an open ceremony of the convention on April 29 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Resort at 2223 Canada St. with the Lake George Community Band, memorabilia and refreshments.
Lake George Superintendent Announcement Coming Friday
Lake George Central School District chose a new superintendent this week, ending the district’s third search for a new leader in the last decade. The Board of Education is giving John Luthringer the title of Superintendent of Schools. WTEN reports the decision will be made official at a special meeting at 3:15 p.m. meeting this Friday.
Luthringer currently works at Queensbury Union Free School District, where he serves as Director of Instructional Technology.
Dengler Chosen As Next Superintendent In Glens Falls
Dr. Krislynn Dengler was appointed the next superintendent of the Glens Falls City School District. She was appointed at a special school board meeting on April 5 and will start on July 1. WTEN reports she will be the first female superintendent in Glens Falls. Dengler served as superintendent for the South Kortright Central School District in Delaware County since 2019 and was principal for six years prior.
