Two men are trying to save a Washington County fishing spot that’s drying up. Wall Street Pond is losing water due to what 20 year old Max Moynihan says is a sinkhole. The level has fallen about six feet and it’s It’s getting so shallow – now under a couple of feet – that the fish in it, like the 20 pound carp that Moynihan and 19-year-old Austin Clear caught Monday morning, soon won’t be able to survive.

Men Save Dog In Whitehall Fire
Two men in Washington County are being praised for saving a dog from a garage fire. According to WNYT,the fire broke out Monday afternoon at 16 Skene Street in Whitehall. A witness said Chris Bascue and Jarrod Martel, who are friends of the homeowner, kicked in the door to save the dog. No injuries are reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Hydrant Flushing Begins Monday In Lake George
The Village of Lake George Water Department will be flushing hydrants between the
hours of 9 AM and 3PM, Monday, April 18th through Friday, April 29th. Some
discoloration and sedimentation may result but will be temporary in nature. Consumers
should check the water condition and call the Water Department to determine areas
scheduled for flushing before doing laundry. Individual water heaters should be flushed
after your area is completed.
Plan For Trail In Warrensburg
A trail along the northeast side of Schroon River in the Hamlet of Warrensburg has been envisioned for more than a decade — and now the town government and community activists are working together to make it a reality. The Sun Community News reports the Warrensburg Historical Society and Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. have jointly drafted plans and prepared cost estimates for the construction work.
Man’s Body Found In Glens Falls
Glens Falls police are hoping to learn more about what caused the death of a 37-year-old man found Friday morning on a sidewalk on William Street. WNYT reports police were called to find the man lying just off the roadway. Detectives say there were no obvious signs of injury, and they are awaiting results of an autopsy and toxicology tests.
Tick Bite Prevention
Warren County Health Services is advising residents to take precautions to avoid tick bites. WNYT reports health officials plan to hold the first of several events on Thursday, May 5. They will hand out free tick removal kits and educational materials about tick bite prevention. These events will be held at Cole’s Woods in Glens Falls and Rush Pond Trail in Queensbury.
Glens Falls PD Sees Arrest Numbers Fall For 2021
Glens Falls Police saw its total number of arrests increase by 67% in 2021, with the number of felonies increasing from 101 in 2020 to 178 in 2021. The Post Star reports the total calls for service or blotters generated by the department decreased from 18,710 to 15,297, according to the annual report. That represents an 18% drop from 2020.

Warren County Health Services will hold its next COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Tuesday, April 19, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Warren County Municipal Center’s Human Services Building.

Motorcyclist Suffers Serious Injuries In Queensbury Crash
One person is hospitalized after a crash involving a motorcycle in Queensbury. WNYT reports It happened around 5:40 Tuesday evening on Quaker Road. Warren County sheriff’s deputies say 87-year-old Joann Levak was making a left turn onto Lafayette Street and crashed with 25-year-old Jasmine Earnest, who was driving a motorcycle. Earnest was thrown from the motorcycle, suffering life-threatening injuries. She was flown to Albany Med.
Lt. Gov. Resigns Following Arrest
New York Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin resigned Tuesday in the wake of his arrest in a federal corruption investigation. Benjamin, a Democrat, was accused in an indictment of participating in a scheme to obtain campaign contributions from a real estate developer in exchange for Benjamin’s agreement to use his influence as a state senator to get a $50,000 grant of state funds for a nonprofit organization the developer controlled.
