Queensbury Man Cuffed On Predatory Sex Assault Charges
State Police in Queensbury arrested 33-year-old Brian A. Combs of Queensbury for 2 counts of Predatory Sex Assault Against a Child, a class A-II felony, and Sex Abuse 1st degree- Victim Less Than 11 Years of Age, a class D felony. On May 10, 2022, State Police opened a case regarding Combs after receiving information that he had sexual contact with a child. The following investigation determined that Combs sexually assaulted two children under that age of 13 on numerous occasions and had sexual contact with a third child under the age of 11. Combs was known to the victims.

Hague Ramps Up For Memorial Day Festivities
The Town of Hague will hold its 19th annual Funfest Memorial Day Parade and Dedication Service on Saturday, May 28. The day is packed with classic American holiday activities including a funfest, karaoke, a live band concert and at 2pm,
the Memorial Day Parade on Route 8 from the Hague Community Center to the Hague Town Park. After the parade, there will be a Memorial Dedication Service with speaker James O’Toole, Brigadier General, U.S. Army, retired.
Fort William Henry Using Augmented Reality
Fort William Henry is now using augmented reality to take you back in time. According to WNYT the landmark and major cultural destination on the southern shore of Lake George is now open for the season. The new experience features a bird’s eye view of the fort, the entrenched camp and the French firing at the fort itself. You’ll be able to manipulate the augmented reality by downloading an app and moving your smartphone to explore more of the surrounding area.
Group Calls Plastics Recycling Effort “A Failure”
An organization called Beyond Plastics is calling plastics recycling a failure, when compared to other materials that are recycled and reused. For example, cardboard is recycled at 66%. Tuesday, members of the Assembly Environmental Committee along with the group, will hold a news conference where they intend to unveil legislation designed to reduce packaging, promote recycling, save tax dollars and reduce litter.
Gov. Hochul Tests Positive For COVID
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, saying she will isolate and work remotely this week.
A day earlier, the Democratic governor had tweeted a photo from the Olana State Historic Site outside Hudson, New York, which she visited to thank park volunteers. Hochul is at least the 18th U.S. governor to test positive for COVID-19.
Finkle Brook Bridge To Close
The Finkle Brook bridge on Horicon Avenue (Warren County Route 11A) in the Town of Bolton will be closed indefinitely as of Monday, May 16 for a bridge replacement project. A detour will be established using Route 9N and Brailey Hill Road while work is ongoing. The project also includes moving a waterline and re-aligning the stream bank, and is expected to take several months.
DMV Crackdown On Catalytic Converter Crimes
DMV is looking to crack down on what they say is a recent surge in catalytic converter thefts across the state. Some areas have seen increases up to 200% per year. The DMV says it will distribute etching kits to car dealers, allowing them to etch a traceable serial number onto the catalytic converter that can be quickly linked back to the vehicle from which it was stolen.
Glens Falls Man Arraigned On Bank Robbery Counts
A Glens Falls man was arraigned Thursday in connection with a bank robbery. WNYT reports it was part of an alleged two-state crime spree for Joseph Skellie. Skellie has two prior felony convictions and served time in prison for burglary and grand larceny. Police say he robbed the Glens Falls National Bank on Broad Street on the morning of March 28. Police in Vermont say he later tried to kidnap a woman in South Burlington, where he faces charges.
