The village of Whitehall has decided to disband its police department. WNYT reports the Village Board on Tuesday made the decision in a unanimous 5-0 vote. In the past year, five full-time officers of the small department have taken jobs elsewhere, leaving only nine part-time officers. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will help assist in providing police coverage.

Warren County Hard Hit By Storms Tuesday Night
Hundreds of trees were uprooted and numerous houses damaged after strong winds and rain swept through Warren County Tuesday evening. As the strong system moved in from the west, emergency warnings were issued after a confirmed tornado touched down near Wells, NY and meteorologists have reported winds topping 87 MPH in Glens Falls as the system moved east into Vermont. A State of Emergency has since been declared in Glens Falls with residents encouraged to stay home and off the roads. Roughly a dozen roads were temporarily closed at that time between downed power lines, tress and flooding.
The path of destruction left nearly 17,000 customers without power in Warren County as of 6:15 p.m.

Warren County Department of Workforce Development and their partners have three free online career skills workshops scheduled this week as part of the July training calendar. Registration is required. The sessions include Setting Employment Goals, Wednesday, July 17, 10 a.m., Completing Job Applications, Thursday, July 18, 11 a.m. and Networking, Friday, July 19, 10:30 a.m.
Two Charged After Parking Lot Gun Incident
Two people from South Glens Falls were arrested on Saturday following a reported menacing incident, according to police. Donald Tomlinson, 42, and Jennifer Hagadorn, 34, are both facing charges. Police say Tomlinson allegedly waved a gun at a man outside Lake George Residence Inn on Saratoga Road. Tomlinson was taken into custody for allegedly hiding the handgun in her room at the hotel, reportedly attempting to prevent police from finding the weapon.
Police Chief’s Court Appearance Adjourned Until Next Month
The new Cambridge-Greenwich police chief’s court appearance has been adjourned to August 19. According to WNYT,
Robert Danko was due in court on Monday evening. He was charged with false imprisonment and harassment last week.
Danko is currently on paid administrative leave following his arrest. He was promoted to chief the week before the arrest.
Lake George Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Attempted Online Enticement Of A Minor
A Lake George man faces at least 10 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to the attempted online enticement of a minor.
44 year old Robert Cutter pleaded guilty recently, admitting that on June 27, 2023, he exchanged sexually explicit text messages with someone he believed was an adult offering the sexual services of a 12-year-old girl in an attempt to entice the child into engaging in sexual acts with him.
Update Meeting On Warren County Comprehensive Plan
The public will get an update on Warren County’s process to create a new Comprehensive Plan on Thursday, August 15, 2024 when the Comprehensive Plan “Project Advisory Group” holds its next meeting. The Project Advisory Group will be focusing on goals and objective for the plan.
This meeting will be held at Warrensburg Fire Station, 18 Elm Street, Warrensburg, starting at 3:30 p.m., and the public is welcome.
Police Chief Due In Court
The Cambridge-Greenwich police chief who was arrested is expected to appear in Salem Town Court Monday evening.
WNYT reports Robert Danko is charged with false imprisonment and harassment.
He was arrested on Wednesday, just one week after being promoted to chief at the Cambridge-Greenwich police department.
The alleged victim is a woman who knows Chief Danko.
Missing Kayakers Body Found In Warren County
The body of a man who went missing after his kayak overturned in the Hudson River on Friday has been recovered. WRGB reports the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, on July 14th at approximately 1:20 pm, New York State Forest Rangers located the body of 67-year-old Alfred Arzuaga, of Indiana, deceased. Arzuaga was located on the eastern side of the Hudson River in the Town of Chester.
Cambridge/Greenwich Top Cop On Paid Leave
The chief of the Cambridge-Greenwich Police Department was placed on paid leave after he was arrested in Salem on Wednesday. The Village of Cambridge Board of Trustees said the incident involved Chief Robert Danko, 44, and his estranged wife. WTEN reports Danko is charged with second degree harassment and second degree unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned in Washington County and released.
