Latest On Stuck Boat In Fort Edward

It’s been about a week since a boat got stuck in the Hudson River in Washington County. Right now, the vessel is still on a rock ledge in the middle of the water in the town of Fort Edward. WNYT reports all on board were rescued.
The owner of the boat is not from the area, but they’ve been in contact with the sheriff’s office every step of the way as efforts continue to get the boat out.

Queensbury Man Cops Guilty Plea To Cocaine Charges

A man has pleaded guilty to possessing heroin and cocaine in Warren County. According to WNYT, Saquan Lamont of Queensbury pleaded guilty to having 11 ounces of crack cocaine and 1.48 ounces of heroin during a traffic stop in March.
He will be sentenced on December 21.

Warren County Gets Money For Bike Trail

Warren County has been notified it will receive $160,000 in federal funding to develop an improvement plan for Warren County Bikeway and Feeder Canal Trail that serve as the connections between the Empire State Trail and Lake George as well as the various downtowns in between.
The plan, to be overseen by Warren County Planning & Community Development, will provide Warren County and municipal partners with an actionable plan for making investments in the multi-use trail network.

Queensbury Man Faces DWI Charges

A Queensbury man is facing charges for allegedly driving while intoxicated and without a license. The Post Star reports the incident took place on Aug. 20 at about 2 a.m. State police stopped a Honda Civic traveling on Lakeshore Drive in Lake George for multiple traffic infractions. During an interview with the driver, 37-year-old Eric Z. Blancas, the trooper observed signs of impairment. Blancas failed roadside sobriety tests and was arrested.

Adirondack National Car Show In Lake George

This weekend the Village of Lake George once again is hosting the Adirondack National Car Show.
Village Officials and the Sheriff Department will be closing Canada Street from Mountain Drive to Sewell Street for the cruise parade on both Friday and Saturday night from 5pm to 10pm. Access to the village streets during the cruise will be Sewell Street on the south and Mountain Drive on the north.

GFCSD Buying School Supplies Again This Year

The Glens Falls City School District is giving students school supplies again this year. WTEN reports the district set aside $50,000 to buy supplies for students. District officials say it pays to have the district cover the costs. If parents paid out of pocket for these supplies, they say it would probably cost them twice as much.

Boat Rescue Operation In Washington County

A boat rescue operation in Washington County on Wednesday. WNYT reports the sheriff’s office was called Tuesday morning to a boating accident on the Hudson River near Lock 6 in the town of Fort Edward. They say a 67-year-old man from California was operating the boat and misjudged the entrance to the lock and drove his boat onto a large rocky shole.

Sections Of Warren County Bikeway To Close For Paving

Two (2) portions of Warren County Bikeway in Queensbury and Lake George will be closed because of paving projects Wednesday, September 7, with one of the two stretching through Thursday, September 8.
The 1.1-mile stretch from the Bikeway’s northern intersection with Country Club Road to the parking lot of the former Aldi Store on Quaker Road in Queensbury will be closed both days as the Bikeway section there is repaved, weather permitting.
In addition, the section of the bikeway between Bloody Pond Road and Sunset Drive in Lake George will be closed on Wednesday, September 7 as the Town of Lake George Municipal will be paving Old Military Road.

Granville Woman Charged In Neglected Horses Case

State Police arrested Wendy L. Murphy, 54, of Granville, NY, for Overdriving, Torturing, and Injuring Animals. Thirty-one horses were found on her property. All appeared to be deprived of necessary sustenance, suffering from neglect, and have been removed from the property. Murphy was arrested and charged.
