The Sun Community News reports the annual World’s Largest Garage Sale will undoubtedly be drawing 40,000 or more people from all over the northeast U.S. into town over three days.

Lake George American Legion Marks One Hundred Years
The Lake George American Legion will be celebrating its one hundredth anniversary on Sunday, October 2. All are welcome to come and celebrate the veterans of the area. WRGB reports The celebration will kick off with a parade at noon, starting on Beach Road, and will head up toward Canada Street. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a chicken barbeque at the Legion Post. A community band concert will be held following the barbeque at 7 p.m. To cap off the celebration, there will be a fireworks display at the McDonald Pier at Shepard Park, starting at 8:30 p.m. The Legion Post will be having an open house from noon-9 p.m.
Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Glens Falls
Police are investigating a deadly crash in Glens Falls. According to WNYT, It happened at the intersection of Glen Street and Oakland Avenue, right near the Cool Insuring Arena. Investigators say a motorcycle and car collided in the intersection. Witnesses say the bike was speeding and went through the red light, hitting the car. The man on the motorcycle, 36-year-old Nathan Varney was flown to Albany Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Deadly Lake George Motorcycle Crash Draws New Indictment
There’s a new indictment and new charges in the case of the Albany motorcyclist accused of killing two people who were walking in Lake George. WNYT reports a Warren County grand jury has handed up a new indictment against Anthony Futia in the crash that killed Jamie Persons and 8-year-old Quinton Delgadillo. The new indictment has 15 counts, including two new counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Free Fall Foliage Shuttle Service
Governor Kathy Hochul today announced a new, free shuttle service for visitors traveling to see the fall foliage in the Adirondacks starting this weekend in North Hudson. Shuttles will run the first two weekends in October from the Frontier Town Gateway to the Giant Mountain, Roaring Brook Falls, and Rooster Comb trailheads, as well as the Marcy Field Parking Area.
Job Fairs In Warren County
Warren County Employment & Training Administration is working to promote two job fairs this week, one in Queensbury and the other a virtual event featuring employers from around Upstate New York.
BD (formerly Bard Co.) will hold a job fair tomorrow, Monday, September 26 at the company’s plant on Bay Road. This event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the plant will hold additional job fairs on October 10 and October 24. Check the attached flyer for details.
On Tuesday, New York State Department of Labor will host a virtual fair featuring state agencies and other regional employers. The attached flyer has details on that as well.
Balloon Festival Wraps Up
The 49th annual Adirondack Balloon Festival wrapped up Sunday. There was a tentative forecast of rain threatening the grand finale of this year’s launch, and while the morning got away with spectacular but brisk weather, the delayed rain forced the organizers to cancel the closing ceremonies scheduled at Crandall Park later Sunday.
Commission Calls For Whitehall Judge To Be Removed
The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct has determined that Whitehall Town and Village Court Justice Robert Putorti Jr. should be removed from office for allegedly pointing a gun at a defendant. The Post Star reports Putorti was served the determination on Sept. 14 and now has 30 days to either accept the decision made by the commission or bring it to the state’s chief judge of the Court of Appeals for reconsideration.
