Polls Show Different Margins In NY Gov Race

A Quinnipiac University poll shows Governor Hochul with a 50-46% lead over Republican challenger Lee Zeldin, a narrow, four-point margin in a heavily Democratic state that hasn’t elected a Republican to statewide office in 20 years.
The size of the gap between the two candidates, however, is in dispute: Siena College issued a separate earlier Tuesday showing Hochul with an 11-point advantage, 52-41%, while a Marist College poll last week showed Hochul with an eight-point lead among likely November voters.

Ice Castles Making A Return To Lake George

The Lake George ice castles are coming back… with upgrades. WNYT reports they’re scheduled to reopen in February with some major additions include an ice bar, whimsical winter characters for meet and greets and more ice-carved tunnels. Each castle is approximately an acre in size and consists of more than 25 million pounds of ice.

Galway Man Faces Charges In Domestic Incident

A Galway man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. WRGB reports 45 year old Scott A. Johnson was arrested following an investigation into a domestic incident. Mr. Johnson is alleged to have pointed a loaded handgun at a victim during the domestic dispute and was found to be illegally in possession of the handgun and another weapon at the time of the incident.

Queensbury Man Charged In Lake George Break In

State Police of Queensbury arrested Alfred L. Lambdin, 39, of Queensbury, NY, for Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespass. Troopers received a complaint that a business in Lake George, NY, had been burglarized and an investigation determined Lambdin entered the business without permission and stole cash and other items. On October 10, 2022, an additional complaint was received that Lambdin had trespassed and stayed in a building without permission in Lake George.

19 Year Old Glens Falls Man Charged With Rape

Police in Glens Falls have arrested a Glens Falls man, accused on charges of rape. WRGB reports On October 12th, 19-year-old Elijah Williams was charged with rape and predatory sexual assault against a child. According to police Williams is accused of having sexual intercourse with two minors under the age of 13 at the time. Police say the suspect is known to the victims.

Toys For Tots Kicks Off In Malta

With the holidays fast approaching, Toys for Tots kicked off its 75th annual program in preparation for the holidays while anticipating obstacles for the year. WNYT reports Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps Reserve will work with more than 250 businesses and organizations across the state to serve more than 200,000 kids this holiday season.

Firefighters Battle Barn Blaze In Washington County

A barn fire on Oak Hill Road in Cambridge, Washington County is under investigation. According to WNYT, it broke out around noon Thursday and was put out around 3:30. No people or animals were hurt, and no one was at the nearby home. The cause is unknown at this time.

Students Rescued By Rangers In Thurman

A ranger rescue in the Town of Thurman. Rangers were sent to help students lost near Dippikill Pond. R The students were cold, hungry, and thirsty, but healthy. The young people were on a day retreat through a local university, but the buses left while they were lost in the woods. Rangers provided warm clothing, food, water, and headlamps, and led the students out of the woods to the Dippikill Wilderness Retreat facility where they stayed until one of their parents picked them up the following morning.

Lake George Man Arrested For DWI, Traffic Counts

State Police of Queensbury arrested Perry L. Girard II, 44, of Lake George, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While Intoxicated and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. Troopers stopped a vehicle on Hill Drive in Lake George, NY, for a registration violation. Girard II was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and while being taken into custody, he was found to possess a quantity of drugs.

Battlefield Park Visitor Center Posts Visitor Numbers

The new Battlefield Park Visitor Center surpassed 2,500 visitors in its first year of operation. The Post Star reports membership has grown by 43% this year. Officials say it reflects a heightened awareness of the Battlefield Park and the Alliance’s role in preserving it. The Alliance concluded its first season of operation at the Battlefield Park Visitor Center on Monday. The center will reopen in the spring.
