A Lake George man has been arrested after allegedly getting into a “violent physical altercation” with a woman on Monday. WTEN reports the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Trey Laraway, 30, was charged with strangulation, among other charges. Police were called to an apartment at 3328 State Route 9 after the reported fight. After an investigation, police found that Laraway has allegedly assaulted the woman. Laraway was arraigned and remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility for lack of bail.

Money For Septic System Improvements
Warren County has received another round of New York State funding for septic system improvements for properties in the Lake George watershed. This money is in addition to funding that was received last year, which funded 36 septic system improvement/replacement projects. (New York State determines which watersheds are eligible.)

Warrensburg-Lake George Football In State Semi Finals
Warrensburg-Lake George’s 250-pound fullback Tristen Hitchcock scored seven times Sunday as the undefeated Wolverines pummeled Gouverneur by an eye-popping score of 85-34 in a Class C state football quarterfinal.
The victory puts W-LG (12-0) into the state semifinals against Section IX champion James I. O’Neill (10-2), set for Saturday at noon at Middletown High School.
Lake George “Lite Up The Village”
Lake George Village’s “Lite up the Village” has been expanded this year to accommodate the thousands expected to attend to celebrate the illumination of over 10,000 lights, displays and holiday decorations on Saturday, November 26th.
The Adirondacks Ugly Sweater Contest will take part at 5:30pm. The planned illumination throughout the entire Village takes place at approximately 6:30pm signaling the start of a giant fireworks show over the Lake. The Village’s Fire Apparatus Holiday Light Parade kicks off at 7:00pm
Job Opening At Warren County Fish Hatchery
Warren County Fish Hatchery in Warrensburg has a new job opening for a hatchery aide to help raise the trout and salmon that are stocked in the waters. The hatchery is more than a fish-rearing operation, however. It is home to trails, a disc golf course, pavilion and visitor center that attract thousands of visitors a year. State Ed Department Wants Native American School Mascots Retired
The New York State Education Department issued guidance Thursday evening, asking all school districts to retire Native American mascots. WNYT reports the guidance names the Cambridge Central School District, who voted to retire their Indians team name logo and mascot last year, but since reversed that decision. NYSED says districts that don’t get rid of their Native American mascots by the end of this school year could lose school officers and state aid.
Warren County Helping Out With Open Enrollment
Health insurance open enrollment season is here, and Warren County Department of Social Services is making it easier for residents to apply through the New York State of Health program by bringing insurance reps to the Warren County Municipal Center on Friday, November 18, from 10 a,m. to noon.
In addition, Warren County will host “Street Side” events with representatives of Fidelis on site December 2 and December 16, during the same hours.
These representatives can answer questions and assist with enrollment, renewal or any queries regarding any plans offered by NY State.
Glens Falls Cement Plant To Close
The Lehigh Cement Plant in Glens Falls is closing after 130 years. WNYT reports Lehigh Hanson announced Wednesday it plans a phased shutdown of the facility in 2023. The company says financial and job search assistance will be provided to the 85 employees who work there. They say workflow will be distributed among plants in Greene County, along with New England.
Open House For New Glens Falls Restaurant, Market, Deli
The gourmet food market, delicatessen and fine dining restaurant Park & Elm will hold an open house on Saturday. The Post Star reports the market and restaurant serves as an expansion to the nearby Doc’s Restaurant and Park Theater The restaurant is set to open sometime in mid-December as the completion of the Park & Elm opening.
