Hochul Signs Nursing Home Legislation

Governor Kathy Hochul has signed legislation that will require residential health care facilities to swiftly update residents as well as their family members and guardians when an infection is detected within the facility. It also requires nursing homes to have a plan in place to accommodate exposed or infected residents to stop the spread of the infection.

NYS Thruway Authority Toll Increase Plan

Members of the New York State Thruway Authority held a meeting at its headquarters in Albany on Monday. The Thruway Authority is considering raising the cost of tolls beginning in 2024. If you drive on the Thruway, you could be paying more in 2024. The New York Thruway Authority is proposing a 5% increase for E-ZPass drivers and a 75% increase for non E-ZPass drivers.

Warren County Sheriff’s Office Warns Of Scam

Warren County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving reports of a man who has been approaching patrons, primarily senior citizens, at gas stations and convenient stores claiming to be from out of state and in need of money. The man offers gold chains and jewelry in exchange for money to help him return home. The jewelry is fake and this man is not in crisis. He has victimized many and the office asks the public to call law enforcement if approached by this scammer.

Court Appearance Monday For Shooting Suspect

The man accused of shooting another man in the Walmart parking lot in Queensbury last weekend is expected to be back in court Monday morning. Adrian Simental is charged with attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon after he and the victim got into a fight which led to Simental pulling out a handgun and shooting the victim in the lower abdomen.
Simental is being held in the Warren County Jail.

Thursday Visitor To Warren County Municipal Center

On Thursday morning, staff at Warren County Municipal Center got a surprise. WTEN reports an employee of the county Buildings and Grounds department encountered a moose crossing the center lot on Thursday morning, shortly after 7 a.m. Captured in a video on the employee’s cell phone camera, the moose was seen heading east, in a direction that could have eventually taken it toward Glen Lake.

Queensbury Man Charged In Stabbing

An argument in Queensbury led to a stabbing, say police, resulting in the arrest of 24 year old Andrew Teal, 24. Police say Teal got into a fight with another man on Angel Lane, and stabbed him. The victim was taken to Glens Falls Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Teal was sent to the Warren County Correctional Facility.

Report: Driscoll To Step Down As Thruway Authority Considers Tolls Increase

WRGB reports Thruway Authority head Matthew Driscoll is planning to step down December 20th. His retirement comes as a proposal to increase tolls is on the agenda for a Monday meeting. It includes a 5-percent increase for those with New York EZ pass tags and a steep 75-percent hike for those who don’t. If the board of directors votes to move forward with the proposal, this would formally launch a public process that will include meetings to gather community input and a final report before a final decision is made.

Alleged Queensbury Walmart Shooter Pleads Not Guilty

The man accused of shooting someone in the Queensbury Walmart parking lot over the weekend was arraigned on Wednesday. According to WNYT, Adrian Simental of Moreau is charged with attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He pleaded not guilty to both charges in court, stemming from an incident in which he allegedly shot a man with whom he was arguing.
