Henke Again Leading Washington County Board Of Supervisors

Fort Ann Supervisor Samuel Hall and Argyle Supervisor Robert Henke traded places Tuesday on the Washington County Board of Supervisors, with Henke taking over as chairman of the board and Hall replacing him as vice chairman. The Post Star reports Henke and Hall were sworn in by New York State Associate Justice Stanley Pritzker.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man in connection with a larceny at Walgreens in Lake George on Dec. 23.

State gas taxes worth $0.16 per gallon resumed on Sunday after a six-month suspension. WNYT reports Governor Kathy Hochul says resuming the tax is important because it brings in revenue that the state needs to maintain the roads.
State Senator Dan Stec says he wants to resume the tax suspension – calling the legislature tone deaf for calling a special session to vote on pay raises, and not relief at the pumps.

Weekend Incident At Lake George Motel Leads To Charges

A 35-year-old Lake George man is now facing multiple charges related to an incident that reportedly took place at a Lake George motel Saturday afternoon. Sun Community News reports deputies responded to a report of an assault at the Travel Lodge on Route 9. Authorities quickly determined that Nicholas S. Harris had allegedly struck another person several times with a metal chair and also choked them during the altercation. He’s charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and obstruction of breathing.

Lake George Man Charged In Burglary Case

Police said a violent residential break-in has left a local man facing a high-level burglary charge. Warren County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Caldwell Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 29 after Matthew P. Charlson, 43, of Lake George allegedly entered the residence and assaulted a resident inside. Charlson was taken into custody for first-degree burglary and released under probation supervision.

Warrensburg Man Charged With DWI Following Crash

A Warrensburg man charged with DWI after a crash. The Post Star reports authorities responded to Library Avenue in Warrensburg for a property damage motor vehicle crash, where they found a 2019 Jeep that left the shoulder of the roadway and struck a utility pole support cable. The driver, 48 year old William J. Parker of Warrensburg, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after agreeing to a breathalyzer test.

Section Of Feeder Canal Towpath Trail To Remain Closed

A segment of the Feeder Canal Towpath Trail closed in mid-December and will not open again until the end of September.The Post Star reports a segment of the Feeder Canal Towpath Trail will be closed to the public and rerouted onto Boulevard Avenue in Queensbury during 2023. The trail was closed Dec. 19 and is expected to reopen at the end of September following a New York State Canal Corp. project.

Vote To Allow Town Board Member To Serve As Town Clerk Fails In Tie Vote

A proposed local law to allow Town Board member-elect Joyce Reed to continue as town water and sewer clerk failed in a tie vote. According to the Post Star, residents at a public hearing were mostly opposed to the proposal, which some in the community had labeled as the “Just for Joyce” law. Republican Joyce Reed has held the clerk’s position since 2019.
