An ocean fishing cruise — a recent weekend getaway for Chestertown’s Jessica MacMillen and family — turned into an emergency situation the MacMillens and dozens of other anglers will never forget. The Sun Community News reports on Sept. 3 while on a charter fishing boat on the Atlantic ocean far from its dock in New Hampshire, Jessica MacMillen, a cardiac and stroke nurse, utilized her experience to aid two men who coincidentally suffered near-simultaneous critical medical emergencies. On Nov. 11, American Legion Post 964 officials presented MacMillen with a statewide Legion award for her heroism.
