Twin Bridges To Become One Span

Construction work is ongoing underneath the twin bridges between Northway Exit 22 and Exit 23 that carry Interstate 87 over state Route 9 in the town of Lake George. The Sun Community News reports authorities said the $21.1 million, two-year bridge replacement project is being undertaken to enhance safety. The southbound span of the twin bridges was the site of several crashes over the past two decades, including one in the early 2000s in which a tractor-trailer skidded out of the right-hand travel lane and the truck’s cab ended up hanging over the side of the span.
