Board Votes To Do Away With Cambridge Central School Indian

The Cambridge Central School Indian will be no more after July 1st. In a 3 to 2 vote, the school board Thursday rejected a compromise on the issue and decided to do away with the controversial logo. The Post Star reports Board of Education President Neil Gifford and members Caleb Breault and Jessica Roosevelt voted to retire the name and emblem. Board member Dillon Honyoust, who was elected last month on a “keep the Indian” platform, and board member Jessica Ziehm voted against. The resolution directs school Superintendent Douglas Silvernell to form a committee to come up with a new nickname and imagery.
